System FAQ

What is the Eisenhower Matrix?

Named after President Dwight D. Eisenhower, it's a task prioritization framework that divides work into four quadrants based on urgency and importance. It helps you focus on what truly matters rather than what merely feels urgent.

What are the four quadrants?

Quadrant 1 (Do First): Urgent & Important — crises and deadlines. Q2 (Schedule): Not Urgent & Important — strategic planning and growth. Q3 (Delegate): Urgent & Not Important — interruptions and some meetings. Q4 (Eliminate): Not Urgent & Not Important — time wasters and busywork.

How do I drag tasks between quadrants?

Simply click and drag any task card from one quadrant to another. The matrix will reorganize automatically. Use the dropdown selector when adding new tasks to place them in the right quadrant from the start.

Can I export my Eisenhower Matrix?

Yes. Click the download button to export all tasks as a text file organized by quadrant. You can also clear all tasks and start fresh at any time.

How is this different from a regular to-do list?

A to-do list treats all tasks equally. The Eisenhower Matrix forces you to evaluate each task's urgency and importance, which prevents the common trap of spending all day on urgent-but-unimportant work while neglecting high-impact strategic activities.

Should I really eliminate things in Quadrant 4?

Yes — be ruthless with Q4 tasks. These are things like mindless scrolling, unnecessary meetings, perfectionism on low-stakes work, and any activity that doesn't advance your goals. Cutting Q4 frees up significant time for Q2 activities.
